Durban Academy High School: Headless Digital Transformation

1. Project Executive Summary

Starting in the 3rd term of 2026, Eastern Wave Creations is launching our premier pilot project with **Durban Academy High School**. The goal of this pilot is to completely digitize school communications and administration, replacing outdated paper-based, slow, and expensive legacy systems with a modern, ultra-fast headless website portal and a WhatsApp Business API automation pipeline.

2. The Challenge

Durban Academy was facing significant administrative bloat:

• Slow Communications: Reaching parents via bulk SMS was expensive and limited to text. Email newsletters were frequently ignored or got lost in spam folders.
• Vulnerable & Slow Web Presence: Traditional content management systems (like WordPress) are heavy, require constant security updates, and run slow, causing frustration when parents try to download crucial school forms or view sports schedules.
• Manual Inquiry Overload: School administrators spent hours manually answering repetitive questions over the phone regarding admissions, documents, and sports schedules.

3. The Headless Solution by Eastern Wave

We engineered a two-pronged headless architecture to solve these problems:

A. Headless School Operating System Portal

We built a custom school portal using a headless frontend framework (Vite + Vanilla JS and Astro). The frontend contains zero heavy servers or direct database connections. It compiles down to raw, static HTML/CSS files served instantly from global Edge CDNs.

The Result: Load times under 400ms, and complete immunity to SQL injection or web database hacking. Parents can access admission forms, newsletter PDFs, and dynamic calendars instantly on any mobile device.

B. Intelligent WhatsApp Business API Pipeline

To streamline school-to-parent communication, we built an automated WhatsApp chatbot. Parents can simply text the school's verified WhatsApp number to:

• Instantly receive the latest school newsletters or sports fixtures.
• Qualify admissions inquiries automatically, routing hot leads or complex questions to the principal's office.
• Get real-time emergency notifications or schedule updates.
